Many thanks to Vladimir for this latest update - he has plotted weekly and daily New High - New Low for the European Stoxx 600 Index. The chart seems to indicate that in a bear market whenever the NH-NL rises above 0, a price break soon follows. At this point NH-NL is hovering just below zero. - AE
Vladimir,
ReplyDeleteIt is fantasctic to have the NH-NL index for the Stoxx 600. Thank you very much!

Vladimir,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the posts, in todays market we need all the help we can get. Thanks again.

Vladimir,
ReplyDeleteCan you enlight me on this. The STOXX 600 has 600 stocks in it, how can the NH-NL index dip below 600 like the spike that dipped to -800?
Or do I need to read the left scale for the NH-NL and the right scale for the index it self?
Thanks for posting these graphs :-) There great to watch!
Wessel
Dear Wessel, I used to have this doubt too about the maximum value of the weekly NH-NL index.
ReplyDeleteThe weekly chart sums up the daily values of the NH-NL index for the last week. Due to this method of calculation, in the case of the Stoxx 600 index, the maximum value would indeed be 600, but this is valid for the daily chart only, if all stocks reach a new high in that day (or a new low, resulting -600).
For the weekly chart, though, if all stocks reach a new high every day during all week, the maximum result would be 5 days * 600 each day = 3000.
I hope this answers your question.
Anyway, you should pay attention to the behavior of the past NH-NL values during a long time, in order to try to find out which values or levels means what.
This receipt is Mr. Elder’s one, and he knows everything about it.
For instance, the -1000 or -4000 level has some meanings for the NYSE NH-NL, but not for the Stoxx 600 NH-NL index. More observation and less math calculations will help you in order to find meanings in particular levels for each country’s NH-NL index.
Please, as soon as possible, read Elder’s books in order to get the best knowledge source for this important subject.
I just returned from a travel, so excuse my (very!) late answer.
Above all, Thank you for the interest!,
Vladimir Dietrichkeit.
Vladimir is absolutely correct - the weekly number is high because it adds up the daily numbers for the entire week!
